Shouldn't take me long to find new homes for the things I"m keeping and then I can throw the rest out.  The sweatshirt has been in the guest bedroom closet.  It's cute, but I'll never wear it again.  Stay tune for Box 6!

Box Number 4

Are you ready to see Box Number 4?  Here it is!

The box is a little dirty from when it was stored it our old house.  But what I love it the label, "Misc".  And there was all kinds of things in that box.

Lots of template patterns, counted cross stitch patterns and thread, ribbon, zippers.  Didn't take long to throw out a bunch of that stuff and find new homes for the leftovers.  Another box outta here!

Has It Been That Long???

Has it really been that long?  That I took out box number 3 out of the closet and showed it to you?  It has!  March 14th I pulled box number 3 out of the closet.  And I haven't worked on it.  It sat on my cutting table, taking up space.  This week I decided it was do or die time for the towels.  So I finished 2 towels.

And I have the third one almost done.  And I decided, I don't really want to do this anymore.  So I bagged up the last four, the towel, the top, the button and put them in bags.  The theme for our Quilt Retreat this Fall is UFO's.  So I'm taking them along and will finish them there.  It will be little projects and I'll donate them when I'm done. Last year this time I was busy cutting fabrics into kits to take the Retreat.  This year all I have to do is decided which UFOs I'm taking.  And how many should I take,  Because, Heaven Forbid, I run out of projects...

Big Adventure

My husband and I had our "Big Adventure" this past week.  We did a mini vacation of Iowa.  First on the list was to visit Reiman Gardens in Ames, Iowa.  So fun!  Love the gardens and loved the Lego sculptures.  I'll share just a few things:

Next we visited my aunt who doesn't live far from there.  So much fun to listen to her stories of the old days.

We then headed over to Iowa City to visit my sister-in-law and brother-in-law.  Had a wonderful meal out, spent the night and  lots of visiting time.  Cedar Rapids here we come.  Spent a good part of an afternoon checking out all the Grant Wood art work at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.  Drove through Anamosa and Stone City.  Loved this building in Anamosa.

Dubuque and Decorah were next on the trip.  I won't bore you with the whole vacation, but we did end up overnight in Minneapolis to see the grandkids. (And their mom and dad.)  Very nice getaway, but nice to be home and in my own bed.  I guess I am old.  LOL

Sixteen Patch

I see it's been a few days since my last post.  I have been working at something though.  At our May Quilt Guild meeting I took home a sandwich bag of 3 inch squares, 330 squares to be exact.   I saw a quilt on Pinterest that caught my eye, but I guess I didn't save it as I haven't be able to find it.  But I did come across it in one of my emails from "FaveQuilts Piecing It Together"  newsletter.  Here is the inspiration.  And here is the top I made.

I had the lavender fabric in my stash and thought it would go nicely with the light colors of the squares.  This top will be quilted and given to someone via the Guild's "Quilts For Comfort" project.  Quilts that are given to someone in the county who has a need.  Feels so good to be able to help out this way.

I still have eight 16 patch blocks to make into another top.  We'll see what I come up with.....

A Finish

I took this picture this morning of the sunrise with the clouds. What an Art Quilt this would make. (I was really hoping we would get some rain, but it stayed north of us.)

 My little pillow is done.  After I was finished and was adding the stuffing, I remembered a great tip a friend had given to me.  Add batting to the backing to help cover all the lumps and bumps that show up from the stuffing.  I'm not taking it apart, but hoping I remember this tip when I make my next pillow. (And remember it BEFORE I'm stuffing it.)

Success!

I finished sewing my Orca Bay Mystery Quilt yesterday!!!!!  Now onto the quilting and binding of it.  Just a few pictures to share.  I'm loving this quilt!

In The Works

I have a number of projects in the works so to speak.  I'm currently sewing the last border for the Orca Bay Mystery quilt.  I hope to have a picture tomorrow for you.  And here are some other items that are in progress.

 This little wall hanging has been a challenge.  The fabrics were cut wrong for the kit.  The corner stones are 3X3 and the piece of fabric that came in the kit was 3X11 plus it had a section of salvage that was almost 3/4 of an inch white.  So went to the stash and changed that out.  Time to baste and the backing fabric is too small.  So changed that out with stash fabric.  Now I'm ready to bind it and the binding fabric is short too.  Ugh!  So I decided not to make a wall hanging but to change it to a pillow.  Will work on that later today.

I have been doing about 1 or 2 string blocks a day and I now have 50 little blocks.  Half way to having enough for another twin size quilt.  Now to get last years string block quilted.  

And lastly, a declutter item.  I have had this sweatshirt for years but I never wear it anymore.  I decided it's time to find a new home.  So off to Goodwill it's going.  But now I have a picture of it. :-)
